FROM 1925 TO TODAY - TIMEPIECES WITH A DISTINCT CHARACTER.
Authentic, passionate, precise - we at Laco stand for watches of the highest quality. Our claim to quality processed products with optimal functionality and timely design has always existed. This is shown by a look at our turbulent company history. We stick to our traditions. At the same time we look ahead and create innovations that meet the current spirit of the age. With us there is no standstill, we stand for continuous development.
COLOUR PALETTE: FROM ELEGANCE TO EXTRAVAGANCE.
Once the shapes and functions have been decided, the design of a watch continues with the choice of suitable colours. From understated elegance to colourful extravagance, the choice is endless. Our criteria for this depend on a design that supports the needs of the particular area of application: from wristwatches for everyday use to robust squad watches.
WATCH STRAPS: DECIDE ON THE MATERIAL, FINISH AND FASTENING.
The harmonious combination of visual appeal and functionality continues with the selection of a suitable watch strap. On the one hand, the watch straps characterises the overall appearance of a watch, on the other it sets the field of application. Leather, nylon, rubber, Milanese mesh or stainless steel – every material has its own particular properties that are decisive depending on the watch category. Even the finish and fastening give each watch strap a particular look.
AWARD CEREMONY: OUR WINNING DESIGNS.
each one of our watches has its own specific style. Historic originals provide guidance for the samples in the same way as modern requirements. The excellent quality of our drafts is also proved by the fact that we have won renowned design awards such as the much coveted internationally acknowledged iF DESIGN AWARD, which we obtained, amongst other things, for our Dortmund pilot watch.
THE FINAL TOUCH: HOW WATCHES DEVELOP THEIR VERY OWN CHARACTER.
A Laco is not merely a watch but an expression of character. This is also reflected in the subtle details of the individual models. Whether you are looking for an everyday wristwatch or an original-look observation watch for special occasions – every Laco every Laco has its own unique characteristics. These are achieved by the craftsmanship of our watchmakers, who give all our timepieces their unique features.
THE WINDING STEM: MADE TO MEASURE.
The watch stem is one of the more delicate components of a watch and is crucial for the smooth functioning of its mechanism. It is manufactured on a lathe – and made to measure to ensure it fits perfectly in the specific watch model. Incidentally: compared to other watch categories, our pilot's watches are fitted with particularly large watch stems.
THE WATCH CASE: CAREFUL SURFACE TREATMENT.
Robust, visually appealing and fitting for the watch mechanism inside – the case has to meet stringent requirements. This can only be achieved if it is handled with precision and superb craftsmanship. In our workshop, the surface of the case is given a high-quality, polished finish. Our team grinds the surface carefully and accurately using a micromotor.
THE HEIRLOOM WATCH ("ERBSTÜCK"): FAITHFUL TO THE ORIGINAL.
With hints of rust, scratches and darkening – these distinctive signs give all our heirloom watches their own unique look. Signs of aging give them the appearance of pilot's watches from the 40s, namely the models that have shaped the history of our exclusive workshop. The method we use to treat the surface of the watch case is traditional and innovative at the same time, as we reproduce the original look using our own newly developed procedure.
INCOMING GOODS, TESTING, ASSEMBLY: HOW A NEW WATCH IS CREATED FROM A SAMPLE.
The design establishes which components have to be installed in each new model. Before this we check every single element using a microscope and a magnifying glass to ensure its quality, both optically and technically In this way we ensure that only components of faultless quality are used. Finally, we assemble all components to make a watch. Precision and accuracy are paramount in this work process.
WATCH DIAL AND MECHANISM: DELICATE COMPOSITION.
When assembling our watches, our watchmakers place great tact on the date, because now it's a matter of accuracy. First of all, they place the watch dial on top of the mechanism; then they add the watch hands and set both inside the watch case. As soon as the case back has been closed, the delicate elements are protected. The watch starts to take shape and begins its life.
ADJUSTMENTS: THE MOVEMENTS ON THE TIMEGRAPHER.
The mechanism of a watch requires accuracy. Only in this way will it work reliably and precisely. Using a timegrapher, we check for any irregularities in the mechanism. In this way, any defects in accuracy or position can be compensated for and the mechanism can be adjusted. At this point, all attention is on accuracy. By making precise adjustments we ensure that the watch wearer can rely on the accuracy of the time displayed.
WATER RESISTANCE: WATCHES UNDER PRESSURE.
The watch must now withstand a gentle pressure build-up. Using a test device, we check its water resistance. Depending on the area of use, our models tolerate different levels of water pressure. While a classic watch for everyday use is not exposed to a great amount of pressure, we construct a squad watch in such a way that it is not damaged even if worn when swimming.
FINAL INSPECTION AND ASSEMBLY: HOW THE WATCH DEVELOPS INTO A COMPLETE MECHANISM.
The core of the watch is now complete. In order for a timepiece to become a wristwatch ready to be sold and used, further components are now added. Only when each single component has been accurately fitted is the entire mechanism complete. A high-quality, reliable, superbly crafted wristwatch in which every single step has been carried out with passion.
VISUAL INsPECTION: FOR WATCH PERFECTION.
In our workshop, quality counts, not quantity. We thus attach even greater importance to ensuring that each watch meets the highest aesthetic demands in addition to its mechanics. We carry out a final accurate check on each piece to make sure it is flawless. This guarantees that our models are also aesthetically perfect. During this assessment, every aspect is measured against perfection.
THE WATCH STRAP: COMPLETES THE OVERALL LOOK.
A wrist watch is only complete when all the essential components have been assembled. The watch strap is naturally one of these. For some of our models there is a choice of different watch straps. They differ in colour, for example. The watch strap depends on the watch face and the watch hands. If it is appropriate, the overall look of the watch will be harmonious.
PACKAGING: THE LAST STEP IN THE MAKING OF A TOP QUALITY LACO WATCH.
Before the watch reaches the point of sale, we give it the finishing touch with crucial details. A tag bearing our own hallmark is attached and it also comes with an instruction leaflet with the Laco company stamp. A protective film helps to prevent undesirable damage. Finally, the high value is rounded off by the tasteful packaging. The showpiece is finally complete.

We restore your watches and bring them to new splendor. Our experienced watchmakers check your copy, compensate for possible deficiencies and thus revive the grace of yesteryear.
