Eleven large numerals and, in place of the twelve, a triangle with two dots: the Memmingen's dial is the older of the two designs to which observation watches were built in the 1940s. The Memmingen is a historically faithful pilot watch with a type A dial and hand-wound movement – the classic observation watch in its original form, translated into a wearable size.
Laco builds it the way the originals were built: barrel-shaped case with straight lugs, closed press-fit case back, dark sandblasted finish and the marking FL23883 on the case flank. This makes Laco the only one of the five historic manufacturers worldwide that still produces the observation watch in its original construction today.
Heat-blued hands and luminous material on the numerals and markers keep the display clear day and night. The domed sapphire crystal gives the watch the depth of the historical models, and the large crown is easy to grip – including for the daily winding that is part of a genuine observation watch.
At 42 mm, the Memmingen is the balanced choice between presence and wearing comfort. The brown riveted calfskin strap follows the example of the historical pilot straps.
