When the lights go out, the dial of the Venedig 42 begins to glow – not just at individual points, but across its entire surface. The Venedig 42 is a historically faithful original pilot watch with a type A dial, a luminous dial and an automatic movement.
The eleven numerals and the triangle with two dots at 12 o'clock stand out darkly against the glowing background, as do the black-lacquered hands. This reversal makes the watch exceptionally easy to read at night and gives it a light, distinctive character by day.
Under the domed sapphire crystal lies an unusual dial, but around it the construction follows the historical model exactly: barrel-shaped case, straight lugs, pressed-in case back with engraving and dark sandblasted finish. As the only one worldwide of the five historic manufacturers of the 1940s, Laco still makes its pilot watches in this form.
The automatic movement winds itself as you wear it, and 42 mm ensures a balanced presence. The black riveted calfskin strap sets a clear contrast.
