The Kempten proves that a genuine observation watch doesn't have to be large. It is a historically faithful pilot watch with a type B dial and hand-wound movement in a 39 mm size – for slimmer wrists and for anyone who prefers to wear the instrument in an understated way.
Only the scale was reduced, not the construction. The proportions follow the historical blueprints: the minute track at the edge, the inner hour ring, the large crown. The barrel-shaped case with straight lugs, the pressed-in case back and the dark sandblasted finish correspond to the observation watches of the 1940s.
Among the five historic manufacturers worldwide, Laco alone still makes pilot watches in this original construction today. The Kempten is one of its most compact examples.
The hand-wound movement is wound daily via the crown, just as was customary with the historical observation watches. Blued hands and luminous material keep the time in view even at night, and the brown riveted calfskin strap fits slim wrists, for women and men alike.
