A few turns of the crown every morning: that is how the day begins with the Leipzig, just as it began on board more than 80 years ago. The Leipzig is a historically faithful pilot watch with a hand-wound movement and type B dial – minute track on the outside, hour ring on the inside, exactly as the navigators read their observation watch.
What makes it special lies in the details. The case has the barrel shape of the historical observation watches, the lugs are straight, and the solid case back is pressed in rather than screwed down. This is how the observation watches of the 1940s were built. Of the five historic manufacturers worldwide, only Laco still makes them in this original construction.
Everything else follows the original too: a dark sandblasted finish to prevent reflections in the cockpit, the engraving FL23883 on the side, a domed sapphire crystal and heat-blued hands that glow at night just like the numerals and markers. At 42 mm, it suits today's wrists without losing its proportions.
